June 1st 1959
The first edition of Juke Box Jury aired on the BBC! This TV show ran from 1959 to 1967 and consisted of a panel of musical judges judging the hit potential of a variety of songs.
June 3rd 1953
Elvis Presley became the first member of his family to graduate high school. He graduated from J.C. Hulmes High School in Memphis!
June 5th 1964
The Rolling Stones played their first live show in the United States. At the Swing Auditorium in San Bernadino, California, this performance was planned to promote the release of their self titled album.
June 7th 1975
Elton John's ninth studio album 'Captain Fantastic And The Brown Dirt Cowboys' reached No. 1 on the US album charts, where it remained for 7 weeks.
June 9th 1963
It was on this day that The Beatles performed their last show of the tour where their fans began throwing jelly babies at them!
June 11th 1960
Speaking of The Beatles, just a few Junes earlier drummer Tommy Moore made the decision to quit the band. Afterward, Tommy returned to his job of driving a forklift!

Whitney Houston started her six-week run on the UK album chart with her second LP Whitney. Not only did this album set various records on the US album charts, but Whitney also became the first female artist to debut at No. 1 with 4 singles from the same album!

Nirvana's very first album 'Bleach' was released! Kurt Cobain seemed to not hold this album in high regard; claiming that the majority of the lyrics from the featured songs had been written the day before recording.

'You're The One That I Want' by John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John (from Grease) started a nine-week run at the top of the UK singles chart.

Prince performed his first out of 12 sold-out concerts at the Wembley Arena in London, England!

At the Marquee Club in London, Jimmy Page performed his first live show with The Yardbirds.

George Michael received an award for his incredible musical achievements in British Music, titled The Silver Clef.
June 25th 1988
'Foolish Beat' by Debbie Gibson reached No. 1 in the US, making her the youngest female to write and produce a No. 1 song at age 17.
June 27th 1981
'One Day in Your Life' by Michael Jackson became his first hit to reach No. 1 on the UK charts. This song was from his 1975 album titled 'Forever, Michael'.
June 29th 1985
Mick Jagger and David Bowie collaborated in support of the Live Aid fundraising event. On this day in 1985, they recorded a new version of the 1964 hit 'Dancing In The Street' which went on to become a No. 1 hit.
